1. According to the installation method

From the perspective of installation, downlights can be classified as either fixed or flush mounted. Fixed installation means that the downlight is fixedly installed on the surface of materials such as ceilings, which are so-called surface mount downlights; embedded installation means that the downlight is embedded into the ceiling. Due to the height of the indoor space, most downlights are embedded. The applicable safety standard for fixed downlights is GB7000.201-2008, and the applicable safety standard for embedded downlights is GB7000.202-2008.

2. Divided by size

Downlights can be categorized into 2-inch, 2.5-inch, 3-inch, 3.5-inch, 4-inch, 5-inch, 6-inch, 7-inch, and 8-inch. Households are usually 2-inch, 2.5-inch and 3-inch. Offices, shopping malls and other general use 4 inch-8 inch downlights.

1. Lamp efficiency

Mainly reflect the energy saving characteristics of the downlight, the unit is lm/W, the higher the value, the better the energy saving effect. GB/T29294 requirements at least in the 35lm / W or more, at present many products can reach 70lm / W, a good product can reach 90lm / W or more.

2. Color rendering index

Evaluate the color development ability of a downlight on an object, with a value of 0-100. The larger the value, the closer the response of the downlight to the color of the object is to the true color. The general requirement is above 80 and above 90 indicates that the color rendering is very good.

3. Life

At present, the national standard does not require the service life of LED downlights. The product that passes the energy saving certification requires 30,000 hours, that is, if the downlight works for 8 hours a day, it can work for nearly 10 years.

Fourth, buy product considerations

1. See if there are 3C signs

Downlights are included in the national mandatory product certification list, must pass 3C certification and posted 3C signs in order to leave the factory. Only products that are affixed with the 3C mark can indicate that the product meets the electrical and mechanical safety requirements, that is, meet the requirements of the national standard GB7000.201 or GB7000.202 and can be used safely. 2. Look at the nameplate mark and appearance packaging

National laws and national standards require that LED downlights be marked with the following: rated power, applicable ambient temperature, mounting surface materials, and source marking. 3. See the applicable environmental conditions

According to the information marked on the LED downlight, the applicable environmental conditions can be distinguished.

(1) Mounting surface materials for downlights

Some surface mounted downlights or recessed downlights are only suitable for installation on the surface of non-combustible materials, ie only on surfaces made of metal, mortar or concrete, and not surfaces made of wood.

For the downlights to be embedded in the ceiling, it is also necessary to see if there are signs “not covered by insulation material”, and “Under any circumstances, the luminaires cannot be covered with thermal insulation or similar materials.” Similar warnings . Special attention should be paid to the insulation on the ceiling.
